These reliquaries are made from layered porcelain and range in size from 10cm to 40cm high. They are metaphors for the person, and contain silkscreened images or forms made from knitted wire representing feelings, memories and the subconscious.

sea-sky-earthMy investigation into human energy is leading me to explore both the dark and light sides of my personality, my angel/devil persona.

To communicate this I am looking into more abstract ways of expressing my emotions. This work is still at the embryonic stage and time will tell whether it results in something I am willing to share.

Sea-dancersea-sky-earthWhen I am working with clay I transcend both time and place and find myself in a space where rationality does not hold sway. This is a very good space for me to work as, in my 'normal life' I tend to be ruled by logic and rational choices. This more intuitive way of working allows me to reach down into myself for inspiration

The moulds I use act as receptacles for fragments of clay that I have textured in some way. This patchwork of pieces builds up to make the figures in such a way that I cannot see what it happening until the work is completed and the figures are removed.
